Research Proves Oley Works
An NIH funded study (Home Parenteral Nutrition: Does Affiliation With a National
Support and Education Organization Improve Patient Outcomes? Smith CE, Curtas S,
Werkowitch M, Kleinbeck SV, Howard L. J Parenter Enteral Nutr 26;159-163:2002)
showed that those patients affiliated with a national organization (Oley) have a
better outcome, regardless of HPN program size. Specifically, affiliated
patients compared with nonaffiliated case-matched controls, experienced a
significantly higher quality of life, less reactive depression, and a lower
incidence of catheter-related sepsis. All these outcomes are clinically
important.
